Our Turkey adventure begins as we board our international flight bound for Istanbul, the capital of Turkey, and the oldest city in Europe city unique heritage.
Arrive in Istanbul and meet our transfer assistant in the arrival hall at the airport for transfer with private motor coach to the hotel. Check in to the hotel. (D)
Full day tour of Istanbul features visits to the exquisite 400-year-old Blue Mosque and then move to the Hippodrome – the ancient racing course that was the social heart of Constantinople. We’ll also visit the timeless Hagia Sophia Church, for 1000 years the grandest domed structure in the Western world. After that, cap off the day exploring Istanbul’s legendary Grand Bazaar. Today to visit Topkapi Palace is definitely the best looking palace in Turkey. Home for the Ottoman Sultans, is now a perfect place to be a Museum to reflect the glory of Ottoman Empire, Sultans and their way of living. After that, you will visit the Archeological Museum. Currently the Museum with nearly 1 million pieces of crafts is considered to be one of the world’s most important museums. Tonight, enjoy the local Indian restaurant. (BLD)
Today, take the Bosphorus Cruise, through the waterway separating the two continents, Europe and Asia, with a possibility to take photographs of marble palaces, ancient wooden villas of Ottoman architecture beside modern residential and luxurious apartments. After that, visit the famous Spice Bazaar, mystical smells of difference aromas of various spices or visit the Grand Bazaar for shopping. Next, fly to Kayseri, in the region known as Cappadocia. Wonder at its unique landscape consisting of soft volcanic rock sculpted into astonishing shapes by wind and erosion. (BLD)
This morning, you may rise early for an optional hot air balloon ride over the “fairy chimneys.” Explore mysterious rock-carved churches with dazzling wall decorations at the Goreme Open Air Museum, and then visit the beautifully restored Dark Church. We’ll visit the underground city of rock-carved subterranean tunnels, hallways, sleeping cells and chapels at Kaymakli, as you descend 70 feet below the surface and see the cone of Uchisar. Take the morning flight to Izmir and driver Ephesus, one of the world’s best preserved Roman city along the Mediterranean. It is here that you will find the Temple of Artemis, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. We’ll also show the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus and many temples. Also see the House of the Virgin Mary at Mt. Koressos. Drive to Kusadasi for overnight. (BLD)
Visit the Cotton Castle Springs at Pamukkale and the ruins of Roman health spa at Heirapolis. As you near Hierapolis, you won’t be able to miss seeing the spectacular white terraces of Pamukkale. These terraces are created by a natural build up of calcium carbonate, a by-product of the hot spring water that flows down the slopes. Spend the afternoon exploring the narrow streets of Antalya and Necropolis. Tonight, enjoy Indian dinner at local restaurant. (BLD)
Take the flight to the Ecan airport and transfer to Limassol, is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus and is the second largest city in Cyprus. Drive to Pafos is a coastal city in the southwest of Cyprus, the beautiful town which is the home to many treasures. Visit the equally impressive underground Tombs of the Kings carved out of solid rock and decorated with Doric pillars. Next to visit the excellently preserved mosaic pavements of the House of Dionysos, among the finest in the Mediterranean area. The Mosaics of the House of Theseus lie close to the House of Dionysus. You’ll see the very interesting geometrical decorations as well as mythological representations. (BLD)
Full day tour to the capital city Nicosia, visit the Cathedral of St John housing some outstanding frescoes and the Cyprus Archaeological Museum with a priceless collection of Cypriot antiquities. Visit the Venetian walls, the best preserved renaissance walls in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Byzantine Museum and Art Galleries, this museum is the famous 6th century mosaic fragments from the church of the Kanakaria. Discover the city’s excellent at Laiki Geitonia, has seen the restoration of houses that are typical examples of traditional Cypriot urban architecture. Take the morning flight to city of Athens. After arrive airport, drive to long Corinth Canal which was completed in 1893 and connects the Saronic and the Corinthian Gulfs. Proceed to Nauplion and through the plain of Argos arrive to Mycenae. Visits to the archaeological site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Today, you’ll join the wine-tasting some of the best wine in Greece. In the afternoon depart for Olympia, the birth place of the Olympic Games, through the cities of Tripolis and Megalopolis. (BLD)
Visit of the archaeological site of Olympia with the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the altar of the Olympic flame, the Stadium and the archaeological Museum. Depart via Patras (short stop) to Rion, cross the Corinthian bay by the new bridge to Antirrion. Pass by the city of Nafpaktos and from there on, along the coastal road to Delphi, known in ancient times as the navel of the world. In the afternoon visit the picturesque mountain village of Arachova. (BLD)
Visit the archaeological site and the museum of Delphi. Depart for Kalambaka via Central Greece (short stop by Lamia). Overnight stay in Kalambaka, a small town built at the foot of the majestic rocks and crowned by the Meteora Monasteries. Tonight, enjoy the dinner at local restaurant with the Folk Dance. (BLD)
Leave in the morning for the unique, precipitous rock formations of Meteora to visit the Byzantine Monasteries. Return to Athens passing the monument of Spartan King Leonidas at Thermopylae which commemorates the epic battle of 480 BC between the Greeks and the countless Persian hordes. Drive back to Athens. Athens city tour includes the neoclassical buildings of the Academy, University and National Library, passing by the Parliament Building and Constitution Square. (BLD)
Enjoy urban sightseeing start with an orientation city tour of Athens, meeting the Temple of Zeus, the Statue of Harry Trumann, the Stadium, where the First Olympic Games were held in 1896. Next a guided tour of the Acropolis, see four fabulous buildings that stand on it, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Temple of Victory, and the Propylaea. Depart for a wonderful drive along the scenic coastal road which affords a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs (Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza) to Cape Sounion where you will visit the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon where one cannot fail to be deeply impressed and inspired by one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world. On a clear day, you will be able to see at least seven islands of the Saronic Gulf and Aegean Sea. Theprecipice at the Cape is a sheer 197 foot drop to the sea. Afternoon, enjoy Sunday Monastiraki Flea Market for last minute souvenirs. Tonight, enjoy the Indian dinner. (BLD)
